‘Extraordinarily absurd’ to name Xi a dictator – POLITICO

Date:

China on Wednesday hit again at U.S. President Joe Biden’s current remark that his Chinese language counterpart Xi Jinping was a dictator.

“It’s a blatant political provocation. China expresses sturdy dissatisfaction and opposition,” stated Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese language overseas ministry, at a daily press briefing, AP reported.

“The U.S. remarks are extraordinarily absurd and irresponsible,” Mao added.

China’s response comes a day after Biden, talking at a marketing campaign occasion in California, likened Xi to a dictator when referring to the U.S. downing a Chinese language spy balloon in February.

“The explanation why Xi Jinping bought very upset when it comes to after I shot that balloon down with two field automobiles stuffed with spy tools is he didn’t understand it was there,” Biden stated. “That was the nice embarrassment for dictators, after they didn’t know what occurred.”

The row is more likely to complicate efforts to enhance already strained Sino-American relations.

On Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with Xi throughout a high-stakes journey to Beijing, which was aimed toward easing mounting tensions between the 2 superpowers.
