Amazfit Band 7 Vs. Xiaomi Mi Band 7: Cheap Fitness Trackers Compared

The Amazfit Band 7 and Xiaomi’s Mi Band 7 are both great options for anyone looking for a budget fitness tracker. Here is how they compare.

The Amazfit Band 7 is a new affordable fitness band, and its biggest contender is currently the Xiaomi Mi Band 7. Xiaomi and Zepp Health are actually more partners than rivals. Zepp Health has been Xiaomi’s preferred partner when it comes to developing wearables and that partnership has existed since the early days of the Mi Band.

In 2020, Zepp Health announced a three-year extension of its partnership with Xiaomi. In addition to helping Xiaomi develop its wearable products, the partnership will also see the two companies collaborate on research and development of new technologies for wearables. This collaboration can be seen in some features common to smartwatches and fitness trackers from both brands, one of which is Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI), a points-based metric that scores users based on their heart rate during activities.

The Amazfit Band 7 and Mi Band 7 are easily distinguishable. Amazfit’s Band 7 has a rectangular display while the Mi Band 7 has a pill-shaped panel. Both have a polycarbonate case, TPU straps, and a 5ATM water-resistance rating which makes them suitable for swimming. Zepp Health sells the Amazfit Band 7 in Beige and Black and provides replaceable straps in Blue, Green, Orange, and Pink. In contrast, the Mi Band 7 is available in Black but buyers can purchase additional TPU straps available in up to 10 different colors, including camouflage and reflective options.

The Amazfit Band 7 Has Longer Battery Life

The Amazfit Band 7 has an HD AMOLED display

The Amazfit Band 7 might appear to be the bigger device but it is actually smaller than the Mi Band 7. According to their dimensions, the Mi Band 6 is longer but slimmer while Amazfit’s fitness tracker is shorter but wider. Amazfit’s fitness tracker has a 1.47-inch 198 x 368 AMOLED screen while Xiaomi ships its fitness tracker with 1.62-inch 192 x 490 AMOLED display. Both devices are operated by touch and their displays are protected by tempered glass with an oleophobic coating.

Some of the features common to the two wearables are all-day heart rate monitoring and all-day SpO2 level tracking. However, only the Amazfit Band 7 has all-day stress monitoring. The two wearables can also track sleep and menstrual cycles. In terms of fitness tracking, the Mi Band 7 has support for 120 sports modes (the global version has 110 sports modes) with autodetection for five. In contrast, the Amazfit Band 7 can track 120 different activities and has smart detection for four activities. Neither of the two wearables has a GNSS chip for tracking exercise routes but can connect to the GPS on a paired smartphone.

The Amazfit Band 7 and Mi Band 7 have Bluetooth 5.2 and are compatible with both Android and iOS devices. However, while Xiaomi’s fitness tracker will work with devices running Android 6.0 and later or iOS 10 or newer, the Amazfit Band 7 supports devices running Android 7 and up or iOS 12 and above. Both fitness bands boast incredible battery life but the Amazfit Band 7 comes out on top. Its 232mAh battery can last up to 18 days in typical usage mode and up to 12 days in heavy usage mode. On the other hand, Xiaomi’s Mi Band 7 has a smaller 180mAh battery, but even with its larger display, it manages to last up to 14 days in typical usage mode and up to nine days in heavy usage mode. It is also worth mentioning that Amazfit’s fitness tracker has Alexa built-in.

The Amazfit Band 7 and Xiaomi Mi Band 7 are almost equally matched in terms of features. Save for the built-in voice assistant, longer battery life, and the higher number of sports modes on the Amazfit Band 7, there isn’t much anyone who picks up the Mi Band 7 is missing. However, price and availability are also factors to consider. Xiaomi doesn’t sell the Mi Band 7 in the U.S. but it is available in the UK for £54.99 and in Europe for €50. The Amazfit Band 7 on the other hand is priced at $49.99 and is only available in the U.S. for now.
