The Florida Gators have landed their first commitment under new head coach Billy Napier. Missouri City (TX) Fort Bend Marshall three-star interior offensive lineman Christian Williams entered the day as a commitment to Louisiana-Lafayette, but informed Swamp247 earlier in the day on Friday that he would be heading to Gainesville for an official visit this weekend. Before heading to The Swamp, Williams announced his intentions to flip his verbal commitment from the Ragin Cajuns to the Gators.
The 6-foot-4, 320-pounder committed to the Rajin Cajuns back in June under then head coach Billy Napier. With Napier taking over in Gainesville and many of the coaches carrying over to UF with him, Williams will also be following them to be committed to a new regime in the SEC.
Williams is the first commitment for the Gators under the new head coaching staff.
The Gators commitment list currently sits at 8 members after adding Williams into the fold. The Gators 2022 class consists of Owasso (OK) four-star defensive lineman Chris McClellan, Tampa (Fla.) King four-star offensive tackle Tony Livingston, Melbourne (Fla.) Viera four-star defensive tackle Jamari Lyons, Fitzgerald (GA) three-star linebacker EJ Lightsey, Covington (GA) Eastside three-star interior offensive lineman Jalen Farmer, Deerfield Beach (Fla.) three-star offensive tackle David Conner, and Severna Park (MD) kicker Trey Smack. The Gators 2022 recruiting class now sits at No. 77 in the country according to 247Sports team recruiting rankings after their string of de-commitments.
247Sports currently ranks Williams as the No. 59 ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2022 recruiting class.
