Alabama vs. Georgia score: Live coverage, college football scores, SEC Championship Game updates, highlights

ATLANTA — No. 3 Alabama leads No. 1 Georgia 31-17 through three quarters of play in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday in a showdown that has become Alabama quarterback Bryce Young’s Heisman Trophy statement. The redshirt freshman is 20-of-34 passing for 358 yards and three touchdowns, two of which have gone to star wide receiver Jameson Williams. The two hooked up for a 55-yarder in the third quarter to push the lead to two scores.

Georgia looked like it was on the brink of an answer, but quarterback Stetson Bennett IV threw a pick to DeMarcco Hellams at the Alabama 13-yard line to stall the critical drive. Georgia again got in the red zone late in the frame, but Bennett’s pass under pressure was incomplete, giving Alabama the ball to start the fourth quarter.

The Bulldogs are looking to stay undefeated and cruise into the CFP as the No. 1 seed by winning their first SEC Championship Game since 2017 and just their second since 2005. The Crimson Tide, meanwhile, have dominated this league title tilt, winning two of the last three and five of the last seven since 2014. Given the even nature of the first half, the second half should be a thriller.
