Here’s How Tiffany Haddish, 41, Revamped Her Fitness Routine

  • Tiffany Haddish is feeling stronger than ever after losing more than 40 pounds over quarantine.
  • The comedian and actress, 41, shared her top fitness tips with Women’s Health, from the workouts she loves to her favorite healthy dinners.
  • Her biggest takeaway? Consistency equals results.

For Tiffany Haddish, quarantine wasn’t just about being stuck inside. The Afterparty star, 41, used her time at home to totally revamp her fitness routine—and she’s been making progress ever since. Now, after losing over 40 pounds, she’s continuing to experiment with the exercise and foods that work best for her (and living her best life, natch).

Tiffany recently sat down with Women’s Health to talk about all things fitness, from her weight loss journey to the snacks she loves. At first, she says, “I did a lot, and then I didn’t do nothing.” After making lots of changes right away, Tiffany says she noticed her weight began to fluctuate when she wasn’t consistent with her new fitness routine.

Once she saw the results she wanted, Tiffany says she thought, “I don’t have to work as hard anymore.” But then, later, she realized, “why can’t I close my pants? What’s going on?” That’s when she knew she had to stick to her new schedule. “You have to keep up the work,” she explains.

“Learning to really make time and schedule time to do that has been quite amazing,” she adds. As far as exercising goes, Tiffany still works out a lot at home. But, two days a week, she heads to the gym for around an hour and a half. “I do a lot of weights, like squats and stuff,” she says.

Battle ropes are another go-to, as are classes—Tiffany takes everything, including kickboxing, barre, HIIT, and even aerial yoga. “I’ll end up taking either two classes, or I’ll do one hour of weights and then one class, and I get out of there,” she says.

“I’m so glad the world opened up, because you meet new people and make friends,” Tiffany says of her time at the gym.

When she chooses to sweat it out at home, Tiffany reaches for her virtual reality goggles. “There’s this app in there called Supernatural,” she explains. “It feels like you’re playing a game… but you are getting a full-body workout. I’ll take that thing off after 15 minutes and I am dripping.”

She also uses an electric muscle stimulator while she binge-watches her favorite shows. Other days, it’s all about movement: “My favorite is to just go ahead and take 15 minutes and just do some physical activity,” Tiffany says. That might mean dancing around, holding a plank, or a few sets of situps, crunches, or squats (or a mix!).

As for her diet, Tiffany reaches for protein, veggies, and lots of water—around a gallon a day. Breakfast is usually an egg or an avocado topped with pico de gallo. Around lunch, Tiffany digs into a Caesar salad or a bowl of soup. Then, “for dinner, I’m eating whatever I want to,” she says.

Sometimes that’s steamed vegetables or stir fry. Other nights, she whips up her favorite recipes in her kitchen, from fried chicken to taco bowls. And snack-wise, Tiffany never turns down pickles or almonds—or, as a treat, Slim Jims and Snickers candy bars.

And, Tiffany adds vitamins into her diet to bump up her nutrition. The vitafusion ambassador swears by the brand’s Women’s Daily Multivitamin, the Gorgeous Hair, Skin & Nails Multivitamin, and the Magnesium supplement.

“First of all, it tastes delicious,” Tiffany shares. “Second of all, my knees don’t bother me like they used to.”

Healthy eating is a cause that’s close to Tiffany’s heart, seeing as she grew up in a food desert. “I stay in South Central Los Angeles and there are not a lot of options,” she says. “It’s really difficult to eat healthy over there.”

Now, vitafusion is partnering with WhyHunger and matching donations up to $100,000 to transform communities by improving access to healthy foods. “They’re doing so much great stuff in the community,” Tiffany adds. “I love it.”
